Oye Como Va song

On my recent visit to Cuba, i had the opportunity to jam with a live band performing the son "one como Va". Cachao with another Cuban song writer Guillermo Infante co-wrote several Mambo tunes together. Israel Cachao Lopez in 1955 composed a tune “Chanchullo”, a danzon beat on which “Oye Como Va” is based. A documentary about his life was televised on PBS in 2015.
This video is about student musicians at  Buchser Middle School in Santa Clara. These kids play with passion and enjoy music. You can tell by the music genre they play.
Working with these students for a numbers of years has been a great rewarding experience and fun to watch them learn how to produce musical notes from their various drums and percussion instruments.
Some of the kids got their first exposure to percussions from a presentation I during their elementary school years, since the age of seven.
Today, they've  continued to polish their skills in preparation to moving on to high schools, colleges and beyond. The stories I told them about my trips to Brazil and Cuba got them excited after hearing about the music scene in those countries, to the extent that   one day, they will want to perform in Jazz festival in Havana Cuba or Brazil.
