Jose "Lalo" Izquiredo

Born in Lima Peru, Lalo is a founding member of the most important Afro-Peruvian Cultural Association, "Peru Negro", a well known ensemble that has traveled the world promoting Black Peruvian culture. A master dancer, percussionist, choreographer, and folkloric innovator, he has had acclaimed performances at:

Lalo has lectured and collaborated artistically during his 15-year stay in Venezuela at the Central University and in Peru at the National Superior School of Folklore, "Jose Maria Arguedas". He has been teaching dance for the past 30 years and plays Cajons with a passion.
